About

Dr. Suneye Koohsari

In over a decade in primary care, I’ve witnessed countless patients disillusioned with healthcare and concerned about their ability to improve their health. I met daily with folks who followed their doctor’s advice of “Eating Less and Moving More”, counting calories and spending hours at the gym only to find the numbers on the scale stubbornly resistant to change.

After completing my residency, I began my practice in Toronto, Ontario, before moving to New York City in 2015. I live in Manhattan with my husband and our adorable rescue dog, Iggy Pup.

I have dedicated my career to preventive care. I firmly believe that managing our metabolic health and weight is essential in warding off various conditions, including heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and many others.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to prevention and holistic well-being, I have focused on supporting patients on their weight loss journeys using a compassionate and evidence-based approach. By addressing the root causes of your concerns, I aim to provide you with the necessary tools to achieve your goals, improve your quality of life, and prevent the onset or progression of chronic medical conditions. I am genuinely passionate about partnering with patients like you, delving into the underlying factors contributing to excess weight and empowering you to take control of your health.

Through a collaborative approach, I aim to uncover the unique factors affecting your weight and develop a personalized plan that encompasses nutrition, physical activity, behavior modification, and weight loss medications when necessary. My goal is to empower you to make sustainable lifestyle changes that will not only help you reach your weight loss goals but also improve your overall well-being.

Body Composition Analysis

  • A body composition analysis is a valuable tool that offers detailed insights into the percentages of fat, water, and muscle in your body.
  • By establishing a baseline body composition and regularly monitoring it throughout your treatment, we can ensure a holistic approach to your well-being. This analysis helps us identify any potential muscle mass loss during periods of weight loss, enabling us to maintain a healthy balance and optimize your health outcomes.
  • We use the Inbody570 Scale.

Billing

  • We are a private-pay practice. Payment is due at the time of appointments. We accept cash, credit and debit cards.
  • A super-bill (medical receipt) will be provided to you to submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits should you choose.
  • You can use a FSA/HSA card for payment if your plan allows for it.
  • If you have insurance, labs ordered will be coded to have drawn at an in-network lab.
  • If you have insurance, medication will be covered as per your insurance plan coverage. We will apply for prior authorizations as indicated.
